Portal & API

SAP PunchOut, the customer portal and the REST API that Gimel offers around it.

SAP PunchOut.

If purchasing runs through SAP, the shop can act as a PunchOut catalogue over OCI.

The buyer goes from SAP into a shop session, puts the basket together and sends it back to SAP with the OCI fields filled in. There is no checkout in the shop: the order is raised in SAP, as your purchasing process expects. PunchOut is a switch in the storefront settings, and the connection is agreed with you before the first order.

Customer portal.

Alef Portal is the customer portal on Gimel.

Customers configure a part, order, pay and follow progress. The portal hands a paid order to Gimel through a dedicated endpoint that only the portal server may call, with a shared secret.

  • A paid order is never lost: the hand-over is retried, and “paid but not taken over” is visible on both sides
  • A retry costs nothing: each hand-over has a unique key, so an order is taken over once
  • Assortment, rates, notices and the PunchOut switch come from one place, the storefront settings; the shop falls back to built-in values if the backend is not there

  • /api/shipping
  • /api/punchout
  • /api/storefront
  • /api/portal
